Ladies who Lunch

An old panto buddy is off to join the army so me, monkey and auntie rachel joined him for lunch. We went to a lovely Greek place in our local town. I was a bit nervous taking wiggles because I'm used to taking her to more casual dining places but I needn't have worried - they were so accommodating and welcoming of us both! The waiters absolutely doted on her and she was loving all the attention. I love that she's a confident socialable baby who's willing to share her smile with anyone and everyone. Here she is stuffing her face with pitta bread. She actually managed to shove the whole strip into her mouth (don't worry she realised that it was over ambitious of her to do so and promptly took it out - classy girl) My confidence is taking dribble chops places is really improving. Don't get me wrong, I still get anxious mentally but I don't get the increased heart rate and whatnot anymore. It also helps that my sprog is quite chill and contented. An...

Seven Months Old!

Firstly a confession. I didn't realise she was seven months old until my auntie asked how old monkey was and I replied with "oh nearly seven months" and dale was like "no, she's actually seven months. today" ....whoops Highlights of our seventh month • we attended our first wedding! Squidge got all dressed up (see above) and saw all the Bealies (my Nana had 11 kids so there's bloody millions of us haha! ...I genuinely have no idea how she dealt with 11 kids. I have one and I need soooo much help with her 🙈) • wiggles is obsessed with trying to stand up. she doesnt let the fact that she can't stand up phase her. We should all have the ambition and determination of a baby! • she has mastered the SOOOOO BIIIIIIG trick. to the extent that she'll just do it at random times so you have to drop all conversation and say SOOOOO BIIIIIIG to her. Or she'll just sit there with her hands in the air. • we introduced finger food. she takes that to...

F is for Friends (and 50!)

I have this super lame title because this is the 50th post! I am well impressed that I've managed to keep it up for this long. It's also titled this because I watch way too much Sesame Street and they have the letter of the day. Anyway, my little monkey has been a reet social butterfly recently. She deffo didn't get that from her parents. Auntie Rachel kindly chauffeured us to the play gym. Squidge liked staring at the boys in the walker best. Mummy and Auntie Rachel liked the fish fingers butties. (we're not sure how her hair got like that but can we all agree that's it's bloody hilarious!) Then we visited Auntie Kaleigh and her little lass who loves babies so obviously they're besties. She will definitely be taking squidge on her first night out in 16 years time.  Then my panto mother (I believe that everyone should have a panto mother) popped by with her sprog who is so diddy and cute and makes my child look like a reet chunk (explai...

Who's a Pretty Girl? BURRRRRP!

wiggles has had some reet mood swings this week due to teething and sharing genes with me. however when we have moments like this it reduces my urge to donate her to the orphanage when she kicks off. Her smile just melts my heart and her burps make me one proud mama. She is ignoring the societal pressures of behaving like a "lady" - go girl! Ooo, this video features the vocal talents of Auntie Rachel (not auntie by blood, just doing the northern thing of making all mummy's friends an auntie or uncle. although I consider Rachel my other sister so the auntie title is rightly deserved)

Auntie Emma

It's my daughter's Auntie Emma's birthday today. She would have been 29. Everything that has happened recently (my sister's death and my daughter's birth) has reminded me of the latest Cinderella remake. There's a lovely quote; I want to tell you a secret that will see you through all the trials that life can offer, have courage and be kind. If I only had two words to describe Emma it'd honestly be courageous and kind. And these are two traits I will teach my daughter (and myself) to be because Emma was/is amazing and if more people were kinder and braver then the world would be a wonderful place.
